About Robert

Robert Fogel

Robert Fogel is best known for his steel wall sculptures suggestive of geologic and natural formations, while also maintaining their non-representational mystery. Subjects originate from his experience as a biologist surveying the Intermountain West for truffles. A beautiful line strikes a chord within him as do the contrast of colors and the harmonious arrangement of forms within an image. The power of a lines and forms in his sculptures is enhanced by stripping away superfluous detail. The differences in component heights in his sculptures creates ever-changing shadows that enhance the definition of lines and the shape of forms. Finishes used suggest natural colors or enhance contrast. The intent is to create visual interest and perhaps trigger memories of places visited.
